About this lamp
The Panthella is perhaps Verner Panton’s most recognisable lamp: a dome that seems to float on a flared base. The light falls downwards and is reflected softly back into the room by the shade.
This example has kept its original gloss and has been rewired with a fabric cord. Minor signs of use beneath the base suit a lamp of this age.

The designer
Verner Panton
Danish designer (1926–1998) who turned the interiors of the sixties and seventies upside down with colour, plastics and organic forms. His work for Louis Poulsen and Vitra remains a high point of Danish pop modernism.
